Information
Vacuum casting in polyurethane is an efficient, cost-effective process for producing small quantities of high-quality, detailed parts. It is particularly well-suited to hardware development, where you need functional parts in production-like materials before tooling is committed.
Parts are cast in silicone rubber moulds made from a hand-finished master pattern, typically 3D printed by SLA. The vacuum process ensures that all details are accurately reproduced and the surface finish is blemish-free. Moulds are reusable for up to 25 shots, depending on part geometry and material.
Our polyurethane grades simulate materials from soft rubbers (Shore A 25 to 95) through to rigid engineering plastics such as ABS, acetal, polypropylene, and glass-filled nylon. This makes vacuum casting ideal for elastomeric seals, overmoulded grips, and complex housings that require evaluation in realistic materials for fit, function, and assembly trials.
Blackout, EMI, and RFI coatings can be applied to internal surfaces, and parts can be vacuum metallised. We also offer in-house assembly with cast-in threaded inserts and off-the-shelf components.
Maximum mould size is 480 x 440 x 420 mm with a maximum casting capacity of 1.0 L.
